
This moth belongs to the Saturniidae family and is one of the largest moths. It may attain a wingspan of as much as 24 cm. Its name comes from the island, Yonaguni in Japan , where it was captured for the first time. Some are found in the Iriomote and Ishigaki islands, but not many. Yonaguni is the main habitat of the Atlas moth.
