Hey, I just thought that I would let you know that the ghost that comes up and wants a cigarette doesn't appear at any Marine base, it's one of the gates in the ammo area of Kadena. It's Juliet gate. I know because I've seen it twice. Each time, he comes up and asks for a cigarette and a light. When you give him a smoke, he puts it in his mouth, by the time you get a lighter out, he's gone, and the cigarette is lying on the ground, lit, and half-smoked. They did close the gate, and no one is allowed back there as it is now blocked off with huge concrete barriers. The ghost that asks for a smoke is about 6 feet tall, he has an old-school bolt-action rifle on his shoulder, and he is dressed in the old, old style of fatigues (all green) with an old helmet on his head, covered in mesh.
The Kadena ammuntion dump area, specifically, the building where interrogations of so many happened. The building is beleived to be an old building that was used by the CIA to interrogate Japanese soldiers, and later, vietnamese ones. The building recently was torn down, but that didn't stop the stories. One of the scariest happened to my best friend. He was doing a walking patrol there (when it was still standing) and he saw two Japanese men running towrds him. He drew his weapon, and yelled for them to stop. They didn't and as they reached the jungle's edge, he fired a round. The men then disappeared. The two guys that ran into the jungle were average looking Japanese guys with no shirts, and torn pants.
One night, around 3 am, over the radio came a yell "HELP ME!" The voice would not respond to any questions, and panicked a lot of our cops. All radio traffic is recorded for later use, but this cry never showed up. The next night, the same time, the cry came over the radio again "HELP ME!" This time, about a minute later the voice came back on and said "I'm at Bldg....! He's right behind me!" This building is beleived to be the old CIA building, so a few patrols rushed out there, and when they got there, the only thing they found was a headless body lying on the ground behind the building. When the investigations people came, the body was gone, and there was no traces of blood. Japanese police say that this is the spot where a jilted lover beheaded the man his wife was cheating with.
The most persistent ghost out in the ammo area is, by far, the local national cop, that was employed by the Air Force. Out on a gate one day, he shot himself in the head. No one knows why. Sometimes, you can see him standing there waving cars in, but when you look at him from behind, the back of his head is gone. This is the same man who will suddenly appear in the back seat of your car when you drive by. The local nationals who patrol that area, turn their rearview mirrors away, so they won't see him when he rides along. The gate is closed after sunset, but the light occasionally comes on anyway by itself, and the police desk constantly gets phone calls from that gate after dark, but when they answer it, they either hear nothing, or heavy breathing. They don't answer that phone after dark much anymore.
