Netscape Christmas Avatars Awards Contest Announcement

What is a Netscape Avatar?


     It is the little image that accompanies your profile across Netscape. Like when you post a story or comment it is placed next to your name. It does not matter the format or size you upload because it will be scaled to Size 33x 45 converted to png format after you upload. So that nice 2200x2200 pixel image you spent hours perfecting will be made smaller and possibly turn out like a black dot. If you change your avatar expect for it to take at least 30 minutes to propagate across Netscape. For this contest we need to have the avatars up by at least the 25th. That will allow us the time to tally the votes and build the page to announce the winners.


     Now with the new netscape "front Page" we do not see the avatar images like we used to..but if you use the link near the top "On Deck: What's about to make the homepage?" you will at least see the collection of navigators, anchors and Top Contributors. I know this is limiting so periodically cruise through your friends' profiles and keep an eye out for good ones.


How do we vote?


     1. Post in the comments area of the post to this article; try to use the threaded post features if you like one that is in there already.
2. You send OkiTech a message with your avatar or a link to the profile of one you liked.
3. For those folks with my e-mail address you sent me an e-mail if you'd like.
4. We really needed more than 2 votes or comments on an avatar to be considered.
5. When we post the final results we will include a link back to your profile in netscape and we will try to put a copy of the avatar pictures here as well.
(Don't ask for a Pocket-T from Netscape; they are stingy with those.)

Get creative and make a cool Christmas avatars.
